We all love denim! So I wasn't surprised when it was suggested to me to DIY a denim jacket! I had a lot of ideas from the onset. It was almost like I couldn't wait to show you! But when I started working on my jacket, I realized there are a lot of things you can make out of your denim jacket, a lot! It all goes down to personal style and it'd be very unfair if I restricted you to a few things based on my preferences. So I put together a few ideas you can try out to give your denim jacket the face lift its been needing. Alright, let's get straight into it, shall we?
This for me is one of the easiest! Distress denim has been around from the get go, so if you're comfortable in ripped clothes.. then go for it! I especially love a few rips here and there. Plus the good news is; All you need are a pair scissors and some tweezers.
THROWN ON PATCHES
Cool patches are everything! I've seen this trend on almost every celebrity. Love it! The biggest task for me has been finding patches that best express me! But once you do, you just have to iron or sew them on and viola!
If you're not artistic enough move to the next. lol! No, I'm just messing with you. I know this might seem difficult but I promise the moment you lay your hands on some paint brushes, you'd be amazed at the artist you've been hiding inside you.
Fringes have been back for a minute and what better and chic way to give that jacket a new look than throwing on some fringe! Just find a colour that suits you best and sew it on.
This might go wrong. Lol. I think you might need a little practice on this one! But if you're looking for a two toned jacket and you're not afraid to try your hands on bleaching, Go ahead! You'd never know how good you are until you try. Just sprinkle a little bleach here and there (at the right places of course) and two toned!
CUT IT, CUT IT..
This also needs a little skill lest people begin to question your sanity (I'm serious) but if you're in for that rough chic look, you know I got you! Most important thing is, know where to cut remember you don't want to look a crazy mess all in the name of fashion.
FINALLY, ROCK IT!
After you've decided on what to do with your jacket, wear it with all confidence! It's your style! Your piece of art! Don't allow anybody to make you feel bad for expressing yourself! As I said at the beginning, I have been working on my jacket and its ready! I'm literally itching to show you but not yet! I'll leave you with a little tease. Maybe you can guess what my jacket will look like. I loved mine so much that I even gave it a name (yh, that deep!)
Cool stuff right? Which is your favourite and which one will you be trying out soon? Want to suggest more DIYs? Please share!
